Energy-curable Coil Coatings

PPG has introduced DuraNEXT鈩 energy curable coil coatings, an alternative to traditional thermally cured systems. These coatings utilize electron beam (EB) or ultra-violet (UV) energy for quick curing, which eliminates the need for substrate heating. The company says this results in energy savings and improves productivity by reducing the overall coating process time.

According to the company, the product鈥檚 key features include requiring less energy; sustainability, because it is formulated without solvents that release VOCs during the curing process; efficiency, because coated parts can be handled almost immediately after application; and versatility with compatibility across a wide range of techniques.

This family of products includes backers, primers, basecoats, and clearcoats.
